📚✨ Reading Buddies are back! ✨📚
This year, Ms. G’s 4th graders and Mrs. Widdicombe’s 1st graders are paired up as Reading Buddies! 💙 Each of our lower-grade classrooms is partnered with an upper-grade classroom to build friendships, practice reading, and work on fun projects and activities together.
Our younger Trailblazers love encouraging their older buddies, especially during state testing, and our older students get the chance to be role models and leaders. It’s a tradition that helps build community, confidence, and a love for learning across our school! 🌟

🌞 Our Sunshine Committee brightened up the afternoon yesterday with a festive surprise for our teachers and staff! 🎉 They rolled out a “Let’s Fiesta” cart filled with chips, homemade salsa, guacamole, and queso, made with love by our committee members. 💛🪅 A perfect little pick-me-up to show our appreciation for all the hard work our staff puts in every day!

This morning, the Fiesta Council visited our 4th graders! 🎉 As our students are studying New Mexico history, this was a special opportunity to connect their learning with our community’s traditions. The council introduced themselves, invited our students to join in the Fiesta celebrations, and wrapped up their visit with some fun and lively dances. 💃🕺 Our 4th graders had a wonderful time learning and experiencing this special tradition!

Join us for Walk & Roll Wednesday!
Every Wednesday, weather permitting, we meet at 7:30 AM at the Rancho Viejo North Park Plaza under the shade structure to walk or roll to school together.
Not only is it a great way to get your wiggles out and arrive energized, walking or rolling to school builds healthy habits that strengthen bodies and minds. It helps students arrive ready to learn, sharp and alert. Plus, by reducing car traffic around our school, we enjoy cleaner air, a quieter neighborhood, and a stronger sense of community.
👉 Parents, please check in your child with Mrs. Jones or Coach Chavez at drop-off and let them know if your child will be:
Walking/rolling back to the park after school OR
Getting picked up at school
🚶♀️🚴♂️ Parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to walk or ride with us too, let’s make it a family and community event!
Let’s roll together for fun, fitness, focus, and friendship!
Reminder: If it’s got wheels, you need a helmet!

Mrs. Vigil just returned from competing in the National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa this week. The games are held every two years in a different state and city across the country. Athletes 50 years and above can qualify to go to Nationals at the New Mexico Senior Olympics, which are held every year in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Athletes can compete in different events such as running, pickleball, and corn hole to name a few. Mrs. Vigil competed in 5 running events: 10k road race, 5k road race, 1500 meter run on the track, an 800 meter dash also on the track, and a 1 mile community run. She competed against some tough competitors and did extremely well. She gained the title of National Champion in the 10k, 5k, and 1500 meters beating all her competitors. Mrs. Vigil is proud to represent Amy Biehl Community School and the wonderful state of New Mexico, she brought home 3 gold medals, a 5th place ribbon and a bronze medal from her community run. Her next big race will be in October, where she will be running the Chicago Marathon! We are so proud of you, Mrs.Vigil!! She was also featured in the Santa Fe New Mexican

Reminder! All students must have required vaccines or an approved exemption to attend school. This is especially important for Pre-K, 7th, and 12th grade students. Free immunizations are available through SFPS, with walk-in clinics on July 25, July 30, and August 6.
¡Recordatorio! Todos los estudiantes deben tener las vacunas requeridas o una exención aprobada para asistir a la escuela. Esto es especialmente importante para los estudiantes de prekínder, 7.º y 12.º grado.
