Out of an abundance of caution due to possible icy conditions in some parts of the district, all schools will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, December 13th, 2022, to provide additional time for buses to safely transport students to schools. This means that buses will run 2 hours later than during normal times. If you drop your child off at school, please remember that staff will also be on a two-hour delay. Full day Pre-K programs are also on a two hour delay. Morning Pre-K programs have been canceled. Afternoon Pre-K programs will operate on a regular schedule.

Santa Fe Public Schools has begun the process of adopting instructional materials in the content area of social studies for the 2023-2024 school year. Committees are being formed with representatives from stakeholders throughout the City of Santa Fe. SFPS teachers, administrators, parents and community members will meet regularly to review social studies materials and make recommendations for adoption. The materials will be purchased as part of the State’s six-year adoption cycle established by the
New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED).
Of paramount interest to SFPS is the well-being of our students. We are excited to have the opportunity to provide our students and teachers with materials that align with the New Mexico Social Studies Standards.
Should you have questions regarding instructional materials, please contact the District Instructional Materials Coordinator, Ms. Erica Wheeler, at ewheeler@sfps.k12.nm.us.

This week, NFHS CEO Karissa Niehoff unveils the nationwide campaign entitled Bench Bad Behavior which is designed to end the out-of-control behavior by parents and other fans at high school sporting events. This unacceptable behavior is driving away men and women from serving as officials and threatening the future of high school sports in our country. Very simply, this unsportsmanlike behavior must stop — Enough is Enough.

Our final stop is on the most southeastern tip of the SFPS District where we arrive to meet the Dust Devils of El Dorado Community School!
El Dorado Community School, located off Highway 285 in the semi-rural community of El Dorado, is part of the LANL Foundation’s Inquiry Science Education Consortium dedicated to increasing equity and access to quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education for students in grades K–6 throughout Northern New Mexico.
All El Dorado’s K-5 students participate in art, music and physical education.
Middle school students can select from a wide range of offerings, including band, orchestra, choir, physical education and visual arts.
An El Dorado tradition is the annual concert at the end of the year to express how much being a part of the El Dorado Community School has influenced students’ lives as they move to high school.
El Dorado takes great pride in its Middle School Music Program being a main music feeder to SFPS high schools.
The Dust Devils also have many enriching activities that include:
--PTA After-School Enrichment Programs
--Middle school sports
--SWAT (Students Working to Advance Technology)
--Hearts and Hands Club
--Yearbook
--The Student Council
El Dorado Community School also offers regular after school care - Monday through Friday for grades K-5.
As we conclude our adventure, we take away a new understanding of the schools across SFPS, their history, their unique programs and their original styles. Thank you for joining us on our Journey Across SFPS.
